Eight pinacos tips for a better workplace

Relationship and flexibility create a healthy and cheerful working environment

Don't we all have the desire to work flexibly - be it full-time or part-time? Especially in times like these, when the home office is becoming more and more important, we have a real opportunity to raise this form of work to a new level. We believe that this requires a workplace that is future-oriented, integrating and at the same time location-independent. Hierarchy should not come before communication. With pinacos, we want to create a diverse workplace that lives equality; where flexible working hours are not only tolerated but welcomed; and where trust and reliability are strengthened.

Everyone can optimise the way they want to work - for a better quality of life.

Redefining and changing your working environment requires collective action and many steps - it's a long way to go. To give your team a head start, we have put together eight tried and tested pinacos tips to help you achieve these goals. The tips vary greatly in their impact, but each is valuable in its own way. Good luck on your journey, and remember: Everyone needs to help in order for this endeavour to succeed.

1. Customise your pinacos profile

What is your middle name? When is your birthday? On pinacos, profiles can contain both useful and private information. You can tell others your address, your phone number or your personal website. And if you have any comments about yourself, whether informative or funny, there is a separate comment field so you don't have to leave out any details.

2. Just get to know your colleagues

Starting at a company can be difficult. So to make it easier for new colleagues, you should make an effort to get to know them better. Of course, this also applies to colleagues you haven't really had contact with yet. With the chat function, you can always take the initiative and start a conversation. Getting to know each other doesn't have to be difficult!

3. Introduce social meetings

Meetings are not generally associated with a positive image - they are seen as time-consuming and stressful. But they don't have to be - by offering social meetings, you can help employees feel more integrated and thus promote a positive relationship with the workplace. So why not have an informal meeting? Thanks to pinacos' built-in meeting feature, these meetings never have to leave the digital world. And by offering these meetings on a voluntary basis, no one feels forced to participate. In the end, everyone gets something out of it.

4. Don't forget the praise

When you don't see your colleagues in person, it's easy to get the feeling that your opinions and achievements go unnoticed. This can have an impact on the psyche - no one wants to feel unappreciated. Keeping this in mind, you can brighten up colleagues' entire day in just a few minutes. With pinacos' Annotation and Notify function, you can leave a small, positive note on any document, whether it's an email or an Excel sheet. So, always remember: a little praise can go a long way. Leave an annotation or chat message to your colleagues often.

5. Keeep an open mind

Keeping an open mind is important, but it's not that easy. Everyone has prejudices that they would rather not have. So it's good to practise getting rid of them step by step. This is the only way to make everyone feel comfortable in their workplace. Be aware of how your own behaviour contributes to inclusiveness in the workplace. If you are open to the opinions of others and willing to make changes, you are on an excellent path - working digitally rather than with paper can be very exciting.

6. Enable flexible working hours

Allowing employees to break away from strict schedules does more than you might think. People lead very different lives. Some are most productive in the morning, others in the evening. So if you impose strict working hours, you will always put employees at a disadvantage or not realise their full potential. With pinacos flexibility becomes a matter of course. Asynchronous work is possible by default thanks to the multi-layered pinacos functions for the exchange between employees and does not require any further steps. And since everything is accessible online at all times, even one's own location no longer plays a role.

7. Promote networking

Remote working makes communication between employees more important than ever. In any case, this is one of the keys to a successful and healthy relationship at work. There are many things you can do to encourage this. For example, by holding short face-to-face meetings here on pinacos rather than on-site, everyone can attend regardless of where they are.

8. Get help when you need it

It can be hard to ask someone for help. But why should you solve every problem alone in a team? For example, by leaving a question as an annotation on pinacos, everyone can respond at their own pace. The same applies to a chat message. You don't burden anyone with a disruption - on the contrary, there are only advantages to be gained from it. There is no excuse on pinacos not to ask.
